I actually decided to make a card for an online card challenge. I realized it's been WAY too long since I've created something SPECIFICALLY for a challenge--as either a participant or DT member...usually, I create something for a DT, then I go find a challenge to enter.
But this time, I actually created a card for an existing challenge!
I picked Craft Your Passion (CYP for short). Over at CYP the current challenge is:
"Don't Get Your Twine in a Tangle"
...which means...use twine or string on a project.
There is also a side challenge (if you will)...to do something more "inventive" with said twine...other than just tying a bow or wrapping it around a card like ribbon (at least this is what I think it means).
So, I channeled my 1970s self and whipped up a macrame lace border out of twine. I used to do macrame a LOT (so did everyone else). I think it's time that it made a comeback, don't you???
The pattern I used is called "Bush Bar". It's super easy to do and looks really pretty --like jute lace-- when you leave it loose. Before you ask...the instructions are HERE . Aren't I nice??? Just nod your head and say "yes".
I also used twine to make a bird's nest embellishment. Just wove a bunch of different twine pieces and hot-glued them onto a cardstock circle. The "eggs" are dyed freshwater pearls. I also use twine to string the wooden letters (although that really isn't innovative). I could have kept adding little bits of ephemera...but I stopped after the art mannequin, so as not to overcrowd an already-busy card....But I could have added a LOT more "stuff".
I'd like to enter this card in these challenges too!
