Hi, I'm Torrey. Welcome to Left Field, where creativity runs amok and imagination is ALWAYS more important than knowledge. Shoes are not allowed but ties are optional. This is a repository of snippets from my life out here in Left Field. One never knows what shiny bits of creativity will be found here... cards, scrapbook layouts, photography, poetry, recipes, ponderings, rantings and musings. It could be anything! Hop Along

Hidy Ho crafty peeps!

It's the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it's time for the monthly hop at Bombshell Stamps! This month's theme is a nod to that Turkey Day that just passed. It's a recipe challenge. This means you gotta follow the recipe!

Ingredients:
2 Bombshell Stamps
3 patterned papers
1 ribbon

Now, you put 'em all together, stir in some creativity and add a dash of your own mojo and VOILA...you have created the perfect entree to dish up for this challenge!

If you hopped over from Jodi's blog, then you're in the right place.

For my entry, I was a bit rushed...WAY under the gun...and TOTALLY uninspired...too distracted...too much on my mind.  LOOK! A SQUIRREL!

*sigh*

Meh, it happens.

In my defense...this past week...I attended my cousin's delivery of her first child. I hosted Thanksgiving at my house...and cooked the ENTIRE meal...for 23 people. Oy. AND, my mom had surgery on Monday...and that means I'm staying at the hospital for the next few days (not that I don't trust the nursing staff to take care of her...but...I DON'T TRUST THE NURSING STAFF). Is it a horrible thing to not trust your peers? I just need to be there. I'm a nurse. It's what I do...and she's my mom.

SO...that said, doing a project for this hop was WAY LOW on my priority list; and, unfortunately, it shows in what I created for this hop. I apologize for not putting in 100% effort. My goal was simply to get it done before I left for the hospital at the butt-crack of dawn, two days ago on Monday morning.

That said, here is my lackluster card. Ugh. I am REALLY not loving it, but whatcha gonna do. Not everything can be a masterpiece. I'm certain Monet had some "off" days. I used the wonderful sailing ship and the sentiment stamps from the Homeward Bound set. Don't tell anyone, but I sort of fudged on the "3 patterned papers" rule. I used 2 patterned papers and created the third (the blue background) using the compass stamp from the same set of stamps--stamped overlapping, repeatedly, using Versamark ink.

Thank you so much for sailing by! Your next port of call is Jenn's fabulous blog! Make sure you sprinkle love notes along the way and create a recipe card of your own to play along with us (enter on the Bombshell Blog for a chance to win prizes!)

  5. Not that you don't already know this, but you're insane.

This is fabulous. I love the shabby, timeworn feel of this card.

I especially love the way you used that banner and the patterned paper.

BTW, no one said it needed to be "store-bought" patterned paper.

    So there.

Kudos to you for all you've done for Thanksgiving. Congrats on the new family member. Mend quickly wishes for your mother! And lots and lots of hugs for you and your dh.

  8. Hahaha, lackluster? No way! Your card is terrific! I love the background paper you made, the ripped edges on the striped paper, and great coloring on the ship! Those star brads are a great touch too.
