Happy Anniversary Bombshell!

This month marks the 5th Anniversary for Bombshell Stamps! I love this company, and the people associated with it! Bombshell images are edgy, sassy and very different from most stamp companies out there! If you aren't familiar with their classic pin-up/tattoo style, be sure to check them out!!! Just click on Rosie the Riveter below to be whisked away to their site.

It's the last Wednesday of the month, so that means it's time for the Bombshell Stamps Hump Day Hop. This month's theme is "Let's Hear it for the Boys." This leaves room for LOTS of interpretation!
Here is the full hop list. With a whopping 16 stops! I, sadly, am not able to participate this month...but there is so much fabulousness in our participants' projects that I know y'all won't miss me. So, start at the beginning and go from there! Prepare to be inspired! Make sure you sprinkle love along the way by leaving comments to all the participants!

Fathoms Below

It's challenge time over at  Kenny K's Krafty Krew

This week we charge, headlong, into the surf with a "Sun, Sea & Sand" challenge. We have 2 sponsors this week...

first: Our very own Kenny K! With winner's choice of 5 digis.

Our second sponsor is Marianne Designs with a fabulous prize!

So, come on and enter for your chance to win!!! It's time to cast off your....cares...and head to the beach! (I bet you thought I was gonna say "clothes" didn't you?)

Cheeky monkeys.

I've been singing songs from "A Little Mermaid" all week. I mean, I've been singing 'em all! Out loud. It's just scary that I know these by heart. So, it's no wonder that when it came time for me to do my project for our sunny/sandy/sea-y challenge that I had to incorporate the lyrics from at least ONE of the songs.

I chose the first verse of "Fathoms Below". If I close my eyes, I can see the ship crashing through the waves then the scene fades down, down, down to the depths of the ocean floor far below. Be happy I chose this song. I could have just as easily chosen a line from "Under The Sea"..."Everything's better, down where it's wetter, take it from me."  Um, yeah...

I thought that would be a little too...er...suggestive if ya know-what-i-mean.

Cheeky monkeys.

Nesting Instinct

Well...I stepped out of my card-making mode for today. I just wasn't in a card-making mood. Know what I mean? I've been combating a bad migraine for 2 days now. Yesterday, it was winning. Today...I'm really fuzzy, but I don't feel like my head's gonna s'plode...at least not imminently. My vision is still blurry (blurrier than usual)...and bright lights are still not my friends.

But, despite my current state of...dilapidation, I managed to turn out a project which I am actually quite happy with. I just picked up 3 fabulous images from A Day For Daisies, and couldn't wait to use at least one of them.

The challenge this week, over at A Day For Daisies is to create something with fabric and/or fiber.

I was thinking about using Shredded Wheat...I mean it's fiber, right?

OH...not THAT kind of fiber. Gotcha.

Instead, I used burlap (which kinda looks like Shredded Wheat) and a handful of various fibers from my "brown" stash. Don't ask me who makes 'em. I haven't a clue. Anyway, I hot-glued a chunk o' burlap to a piece of light-colored Kraft cardstock. Then, I grabbed about 6 different types of fibers and loosely twisted them together and formed it into a nest-like thing and hot glued it onto the burlap-covered background. I printed out this adorable image onto light-colored Kraft cardstock and colored it with my Prismacolor pencils. I fussy-cut out the fairies (sans wings) and the flowers. I printed the wings onto transparency then glued a light coating of micro glitter on the back side of them. I wanted them to look like REAL fairy wings (as opposed to fake fairy wings). I nestled the various pieces onto the...nest and hot glued them all down to create a VERY 3-D, touchy-feely likeness of the original image. I placed the finished piece into a shadowbox frame, hot glued some buttons onto the frame (WITH floss tied in 'em--you're welcome, Jodi)...and called it "Put-a-fork-in-it" done! I can't WAIT to hang this somewhere in my studio. I LOVE it.

Here's a detail shot of the coloring:

And, here, is the original image:

I'd like to enter my project in the following challenges:

Ingredients:
Prismacolor Pencils
fibers
burlap
Kraft cardstock
transparency
micro glitter - Hero Arts
shadowbox frame - EK Success
wooden buttons
embroidery floss - DMC
hot glue

Carrots

How many of you out there in Blogland have read or seen "Anne of Green Gables"?

I bet most of you.

I happen to love the character of Anne (with an "e") Shirley played by Megan Fallows in the miniseries movie. She was a PERFECT choice to play Anne (with an "e").

Anne (insert "e") is feisty, irreverent, smart-as-a-whip, and...a redhead. I totally relate to her. She's a writer...I'm a writer. She has red hair...I have red hair (well, Auburn...sorry Anne). She's unconventional...I spend my life in Left Field...so yeah.

My husband even affectionately calls me "Carrots".

When I ran across this image of Anne (with an "e") from Mo Manning, I had to get it. Had to. Thank goodness digital stamps are not as pricey as their rubbah counterparts. Over at Bronte and Bella's challenge blog, aka DP2--Mo's Challenge Blog (if ya wanna get all technical), they're having an "Anything Goes" challenge.

Perfect opportunity to use my coveted Carrots, er Anne, stamp.

Here is my tribute to the fiery, ginger-headed gal who prefers to be called...Cordelia. I colored her with my Prismacolor pencils...then  paper-toled her into like 5 layers. Then, I just started layering patterned paper. What can I say? I like layers. When I showed this to my husband he replied, "Don't ever give this card away to anyone, okay?"

I guess he likes it. That makes me smile.

Remember: "Tomorrow is ALWAYS fresh, with no mistakes in it."

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Ingredients:
Prince Edward Island stamp - Mo Manning
Patterned paper - My Minds Eye
Nestabilities - Spellbinders (lacy oval, lg scalloped oval)
Prismacolor pencils
gems - Michaels
eyelet corner punch - All Night Media
scallop border punch - EK Success for Martha Stewart
leaf trim
brown stamping ink - Tsukineko
cardstock

Grow Old Along With Me...

It's that time of year...weddings abound! I know of 4 or 5 different couples who are getting married within the next month...and I get to make cards for all of them. The first of my wedding series is for the youngest son of a friend of mine. In my mind, he's still like 8 years old--cutest little tow-head imp you've ever seen. Somewhere in the last couple of decades...he grew up. The NERVE! At any rate...he's getting married here in a few days.

Here is the card I made for him and his lovely bride. Their wedding colors are red, black and white. At least I think they are...that's what the invitations were, so I am assuming that is the chosen color scheme. I decided to try my hand at a totally stamp-free card. I didn't want any cutesy little images of brides and grooms. I didn't want butterflies or doves with ribbons and pearls. I wanted to create something...unique.

I KNOW!!! ZENTANGLE! That's the ticket! I used mainly one Zentangle pattern called "Mooka" (thanks to Jodi for giving me the idea...long story, but it has to do with her new Australian Shepherd puppy named "Mooka"). I now am TOTALLY enamored with the "Mooka" pattern. It's just...cool. So here it is...my Zentangled wedding card.

Detail shot:

Ingredients:
Heart brads - Creative Impressions
ribbon - Michaels
Micron 01 pen - Sakura
cardstock
