Plugging Away

Well, I still feel craptastic. But, somehow, I managed to get another project done before I crawl back to bed. This card is for my dad's birthday (which, to come clean, was awhile ago...better late than never). A little background: He likes Mickey Mouse, and he was a pilot. So, I put them together to produce this wonderfully-complex card. I had to do something worthy of him turning 3/4 of a century old. Somehow, I feel like it's not quite finished...but I can't put my finger on what else it needs. Any suggestions?


I found the image of Mickey somewhere online. I crafted the pilot wings in Photoshop using of the head of another image. I printed out the images on Kraft cardstock and colored them with my Prismacolor pencils in sepia tones (sort of). The base of the whole shegang is the 3-D Accordion Album by Karen Burniston (Sizzix). I'm loving this die.

Here is a closeup of Mickey. Looking at it now, it kinda looks like he is sporting a 5-o'clock shadow. Hahahaha. That's appropriate for a weather-beaten pilot, dontcha think?

    The only thing it's missing is your Dad's delight when he sees it! I LOVE THIS! You've done a wonderful job with creating something very masculine that uses Mickey Mouse - an impressive feat! The way the Happy Birthday floats on the twill is so creative! Love that!

    I think it's wonderful! The colours and the theme and your colouring is fantastic.

    Now, I don't normally suggest anything when crafters ask, I figure it's their creation, who am I to mess with it? But, if you twisted my arm (or, if you're a pacifist, bribed me with some chocolate) I'd suggest.....maybe a die cut (or fussy cut) airplane attached to the top of the card with some acetate??? So it would look like it's floating along above the card?? I dunno, it's almost something you'd have to see done to see if it would work.

    Anyhoo, that's my 2¢. (Well, I guess I'd have to say 5¢ as us Canadians have done away with our penny. :-) )

    Love it... I do like Jan's suggestion of adding an airplane someplace, but think that it really doesn't need anything else. Wayne is going to love it!

    I think that this card is absolutely fabulous !!!!

    It is the best card that she has ever made. (Up for debate.)

    She is SO TALENTED !!!

    I may be a bit prejudice, but that is only because I love her so very much !!!
