Hi, I'm Torrey. Welcome to Left Field, where creativity runs amok and imagination is ALWAYS more important than knowledge. Shoes are not allowed but ties are optional. This is a repository of snippets from my life out here in Left Field. One never knows what shiny bits of creativity will be found here... cards, scrapbook layouts, photography, poetry, recipes, ponderings, rantings and musings. It could be anything! Life in Left Field is always changing, always real, always ...interesting.

In the Pink- Part 1

Hidy ho, crafty peeps!

It's October here in Texas.

Wait...that was dumb...it's October everywhere, Torrey...duh.

It's also Monday...EVERYWHERE.

That means it's time for a new Monday challenge at

This time around I am the hostess for our challenge. I picked "In the Pink" as the theme...in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month (which just so happens to be... October).

I am tasking everyone to come up with a project that can be ANY theme
but one where PINK is the predominant color.

This is a symbolic tribute to the preservation of THE GIRLS...you know...
THE GIRLS--also known as:
(in alphabetical order no less, resurrected from an old post of mine)
  • Balcony
  • Bazookas
  • Bomb Shells
  • Boobs/Boobies
  • Breastages
  • Buster Browns
  • Cans
  • Chesticles (my fave)
  • Funbags
  • Headlights
  • Hood Ornaments (I sense a car theme here)
  • Hooters
  • Hypno Globes
  • Jugs
  • Knockers
  • Maracas
  • Milkshakes
  • Money Makers
  • Rack
  • Ta-Tas
  • The Girls
  • Tig ol' bitties
  • Tracks of Land
  • Watermelons (or in my case...grapes--well, more like raisins now)
  • Yabos
Aren't you impressed that I know so many euphemistic terms for mammary glands?

(just humor me and nod)

It's a gift.

Breast Cancer Awareness is something that is very near and dear to my heart. See, every woman in my family on my mom's side (back 5 generations) has had either breast cancer, ovarian cancer...or both. This includes my mom and my grandmother...my aunts, great-aunts, second cousins...you get the picture. Those of us in my generation are holding our breaths (and breasts) and crossing our fingers that we will break this terrible trend.

It is SO vitally important to do self-exams and get regular mammograms. I cannot stress this enough. I also think it's a good idea to get genetic screening for BrCa1 and BrCa2 (though my mom was negative for both and still ended up with breast Ca). I'm happy to report that both my mom and grandmother survived breast Ca...mainly because it was caught EARLY. So, I IMPLORE all of you ladies out there to take care of your Chesticles.

Now, on to the Challenge details!

I actually made 3 projects for this challenge! I will post one today, and the other two on the half-way reminder post in about a week.

I was joking around the other day (with some of my teamies at HMFMC) and threatened them that I would make a card with a certain undergarment on it for this challenge. And then, Miss Christine threw down the gauntlet and said, "Bring it on!"

...so, how could I NOT do it?

Here it is...my House Mouse project...WITH A BIG OLD BRA ON IT.

Think Pink
You gotta admit. It turned out pretty adorable. I took several of the digital stamp mice from the Triple CD and cropped them out. Then, I conjured up an image of a bra and a hanger...arranged them all together in Photoshop and VOILA!

I printed it all out on white cardstock; colored it up with my Prismacolor colored pencils; and then PAINSTAKINGLY fussy-cut the whole shebang out. The little mouse hanging off the bow on the bra is separate from the rest...he's actually dangling from the bow.

I embellished the background of the card with a fun polka-dotted patterned paper, a pretty paper doily, some rhinestone bling, and an organza ribbon to finish it all off!

I'd also like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Thanks for tromping out to Left Field to visit me!
