This week Miss America has set the theme. It's a challenging one...
especially for a colorist like me.
She has tasked us with
ALL WHITE
especially for a colorist like me.
She has tasked us with
ALL WHITE
as the theme. This means that only your image may be colored. The rest of your project is to be nothing but pristine, clean, snow-driven white. So scurry on over to House Mouse and Friends and play with us for your chance to win!
There are fabulous prizes to be had from our sponsors!

Now...as for our "All White" theme...
Lying in bed the other night, I had myself a little brainstorming session (with the aid of my dear husband) as to what might fit the WHITE theme. Some of our ideas were viable. Some of them were TOTALLY off-the-wall.
Here's what we came up with:
- Snow/ice
- Winter
- Paint
- Elmer's Glue
- Underwear (think tighty whities)
- Socks
- Laboratory (I almost chose this one)
- Bathroom
- Soap
- Toothpaste
- Heaven
- Cotton
- Clouds
- Feathers
- Pearls
- Igloo
- Kleenex
- Antarctica
- Lace
- Sugar
- Flour
- Salt
- Milk
- Marshmallows
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Vanilla cake
I figured almost everyone would be doing their take on winter/snow/ice...which makes sense, given the time of year. But, you know me...I gotta be different.
I ultimately decided to combine SOAP with BATHROOM. So, here's MY take on ALL WHITE.
Squeaky Clean
Now, technically, it's not "all" white...but it does give the IMPRESSION of total whiteness. I did sneak in a teensy weensy bit of color to make the bubbles look more...bubbly. And, I used the palest of greys to highlight the bubbles, wall tiles, beaded molding and the soap.
To make the "faux" tiled background, I scored a piece of white cardstock to create a sort of diamond pattern. Then I gently colored the bottom corner and tapering up the sides of each tile with Prismacolor pencil PC1059 (10% Cool Grey). For the "beaded" molding, I took a strip of white cardstock, drew circles across it with that same light grey pencil, and added a little trompe-l'oeil shading to make it look more dimensional.
I chose mice from several different digi stamps (sort of like I did on my "In the Pink" bra card). I even found an image of soap that I thought worked perfectly. I colored it all with my Prismacolor pencils.
After I colored my meece...I cut them all out in circles, then cut out extra cardstock circles for bubbles in various sizes. I colored the outer part of each bubble with that same light grey pencil, blended it toward the middle with OMS, and then I coated each "bubble" and the soap with clear lacquer to make 'em shiny.
Totally white?
Well, technically, grey isn't a color--it's a shade. But, pink and turquoise are definitely colors...so yeah, I cheated.
BUT...does it come across as TOTALLY WHITE?
Yeah, I think it does.
Thank you, as always, for journeying out here to Left Field.
It's adorable! Love the bathroom scene you created and the sweet mice in the bubbles are awesome.

ps YES this one really had me smiling..lol
I figure my "lists" serve two purposes...1) Jumpstart people with some ideas...and 2) Provide a brief glimpse into what goes on inside my head (which is sometimes pretty scary).
