A few months ago, I was asked to be a guest designer for Simon Says Stamps for the month of June. What an honor!!! And what do you know...it's JUNE! So, here is my first project for the brandy new challenge over at their challenge blog. Just click on the banner just below to be whisked away to their blog.
Today marks the start of their new challenge! The theme for this week's challenge is:
"Mask It"
They are featuring products from Altenew! So hurry on over to their blog for your chance at winning this fabulous $50 gift certificate prize!!
Without further ado...here is my project!!
I must admit, when I first learned about this theme, I immediately had images of cards wearing domino masks...you know...masquerade masks. And I thought, "What kind of a challenge is this??? You won't be able to see the card if it has a mask on it." But, I decided "Who am I to judge?"...and slapped a mask on my card.
Ta Da! (just kidding)
Sometimes my brain gets very literal. It's just scary when that happens.
I searched and searched through my stencils and masks and just wasn't inspired by any of them...so I decided to make my own mask using diecuts! I forget sometimes that diecuts can be so much more than mere embellishments!
Sadly, I don't have any Altenew products...yet. So, for this challenge I used one of my favorite Mo Manning stamps by Penny Black--Fan's Cricket. I gently colored her up with my Prismacolor pencils. Then...I used a couple of diecuts as stencils and dabbed ink through them (with a sponge dauber) both around the image, and then on the background paper of the card front itself! I love the way it turned out. It's a great way to customize plain-Jane paper.
Simon Stamp products used:
- "hello" Sentimental die (Avery Elle)
- Fan's Cricket stamp (Penny Black)
- Mixed Media #2 die set (Tim Holtz)
- Bronze colored sequins (28 Lilac Lane)
Gorgeous card Torrey, Fanny is adorable and your colouring is fabulous! I love that you made your own stencil to use as a mask for the background too, the whole design is brilliant :-)
