Dedicated To The One I Love

Hidy Ho Crafty peeps! Today I feel like having the text all center aligned.
I have no idea why...but let's roll with it.

It's challenge time again over at

This week our theme is
For The One I Love
This week's first sponsor is Kenny K's Downloads
The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

And our second sponsor this week is

and the prize is this gorgeous stamp set and die set too!

For more information on new releases from
Marianne Design please follow them on
Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/mariannedesignbv

For this project I hired Mr. Delivery Guy from Kenny K and put him to work delivering a great big box o' LoVe. I printed him out on kraft-colored cardstock, so he looks all tan. Yeah, that's real masking tape on there. Kinda lends an air of authenticity, doesn't it? I tore the top layer off some corrugated cardboard for the heart backdrop. Props (and maybe some Geritol) to those of you who understand the sentiment reference.
Double props if you can actually sing it. Triple, if you have choreography.

Ingredients:
Nestability die - Spellbinders (long scalloped rectangle)
Prismacolor colored pencils
Postage stamp stamp - Hero Arts
Stamp-edge scissors - Fiskars
cancellation stamp - I don't know... it's a mystery
kraft cardstock
Distress Ink - Ranger
cardstock

Gettin' Sketchy with Kenny K

Hidy Ho fellow crafty peeps!

I am here with another challenge over at

This week's challenge-o-rama is based on the following sketch.

So, come on by the Krew and enter your take on it! You can flip it, rotate it, resize it, twist it...just about anything as long as we can still recognize it. There are FaBuLoUs prizes to be had, so please play along! This week's sponsors are:

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

AND

I don't know who...it's a mystery.

For this week's challenge I chose the cute and sassy Miss Jeannie for my card. The fun thing about this image is that it comes with her bottle too! I wanted a bright and cheery color palette...and there is nothing better to me than the combo of orange, lime green and purple. It's a secondary color kind of thing. To me, it just sings "happy". I colored up Miss Jeannie with my Prismacolor pencils and tricky-cut her out with my Nestability die. I'm getting better at cutting images that go outside the die border. Maybe I'll do a tutorial on that. For the sentiment, I cut the smokey greeting free-hand.

Ingredients:
Nestability die - Spellbinders
Prismacolor colored Pencils
patterned paper
cardstock
rhinestones

Bad Girl

Well, well, well...here it is about half way through January and this is the first project I've done this year. My mojo took a vacation. I sure hope it comes back soon--well-rested, tanned and ready to CREATE.

Over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew, we're hosting a GOTH challenge this week. So go out there and create something Gothy...Gothicy...Gothictastic.

You get the idea.

We have some generous sponsors (as usual) for one lucky winner! So go on over to the Krafty Krew and enter!

For this challenge I dug up one of the FaBuLoUs Gothik Angelz. I think they're all sassy and I love 'em all. I used li'l Miss Devastatia. She's just plain wicked, dontcha think??? I colored her up with my Prismacolor pencils (as always) and added some glittery accents. She looks goooooooooood in purple. I took a white paper doily and sponged black ink on it to turn it black.

Ingredients:
Devastatia - Kenny K
embossing folder - Sizzix (Riveted Metal)
patterned paper - HOTP
Nestability die - Spellbinders (labels 10)
Prismacolor colored pencils
cardstock
doilies
rhinestones
Memento black ink
glitter pen  - Tsukineko
organza ribbon - Michaels

5...4...3...2...1...HAPPY NEW YEAR

WOOO HOOOO....the world didn't explode!!

In honor of this auspicious occasion, over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew we've popped the cork on a challenge because it's
TIME TO PARTY!!!

This weeks first sponsor is Kenny K's Downloads
The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

And our second sponsor this week is

Leo at Flonz

The prize from Flonz this week is $20.00 gift voucher for Leo's store.

Our theme this week is:

Its Party Time!

Happy New Year Celebration cards or party Invites!

Here is the card I made. I decided it needed to be EXTRA UBER glittery. Not only are the numbers covered in glitter, so is her dress. It's gonna be a sparkly new year!! I used the fabulous Happy Hour image from Kenny K and colored it up with my Prismacolor pencils. I added the white cardstock tuxedo shirt and grosgrain ribbon bowtie to the bottom of the card --to make it look classy.

Frosty Fun

Wow, it's actually getting CHILLY here in Texas. Enough so, that my hubby had to cover up the flower beds. But, knowing Texas...tomorrow could be 90 degrees.

It's challenge time over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. And for this week's challenge, it's Frosty Hues all around. This means use the cool half of the color wheel...pale blues, frosted purples, silver, white...just about any color that says "Frosty" to you will do!

The first sponsor this week is our own Kenny K!

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

And our second sponsor is

Loves Rubber Stamps

Laura's prize is the winner's choice of a $10.00 stamp from her store!

Here is my entry this week. I used the Sassy Miss Movie Star image. Doesn't her belly button get cold?

Yes, she's colored with Copics. Don't get your hopes up. I'm not converting. The quaint little row of houses was cut out using a Cricut cartridge (um, I forgot which one, sorry). The fake snow flocking was placed in all the appropriate places with a shmear of crystal lacquer to hold it in place!

I really share the sentiment of this card. I do miss snow. A lot.

The Nose Knows

Hidy Ho Crafty peeps!

October has come and gone...ZIP...FLASH. November has arrived. It's actually getting sorta chilly at night now. I am hopeful that this is the herald of cooler temperatures to come!

Over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew, we're having a challenge this week to usher in those frosty nights....our theme this week is:
Even if it's still 90 degrees where you are--you can play along and dream of winter white! The more the merrier. And if you use a Kenny K image on your project, you'll be eligible to win this week's prizes which are:
The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi stamps.

And our second sponsor is

Leo at Flonz
The prize from Flonz this week is $20.00 gift voucher for Leo's store.
WOWZERS!!!!
So for this challenge...I morphed the cute little Elf Boy stamp into old Mr. Jack Frost himself! And, about the sentiment...
yeah, I'm weird, I know. Actually, I was originally gonna put "Nipping at your nose"...but my mom thought "Snipping at your nose" with him holding scissors would be better. I changed the "at" to "off". I know it's macabre, but heck, yesterday was Halloween and I'm still kind of in that mode.

But when it boils down...it was still my mom's idea.
Now you know where I get it from.
I colored up Jack with my Prismacolor pencils with just 3 pencils (PC 932 Violet, PC 1088 Muted Turquoise, PC 906 Copenhagen Blue). I used the plastic "bubble" off some leftover packaging from something and created a shaker box filled with big, sparkly glitter and punched cardstock snowflakes covered in glittery ink. I gave him a pair of scissors and...a nose--both of which I created in Photoshop.

Ingredients:
Elf Boy stamp - Kenny K
Prismacolor Pencils
Patterned paper - Anna Griffin
ribbon - Michaels
mini scallop scissors - Provo Craft
glitter pen - Sakura
drip border punch - EK Success for Martha Stewart
snowflake punches - McGill, Emagination
cardstock
crystal glitter - Glitterex

Frightful Greetings

It's challenge time over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew. This week we're pulling out all things creepy, ghoulish, and macabre to celebrate Kenny's new line of Halloween images. Our sponsors this week are:

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

And our second sponsor is

Our theme this week is

That's Just Frightful!

So get your spooky shoes on!
(You know...the ones with the spiders and blood all over them)
And join us in a spooktacular challenge!

I decided to use Kenny's new "Haunted House" image. It SO reminds me of the Addams Family house, doesn't it? They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky. They're altogether ooky, the Addams Family! Their house is a museum, when people come to see 'em. They really are a scree-am...the Addams Family.

You're gonna be singing that all day now.

Mwa hahahahaha. I'm pure evil.

Wanna know the BEST part about this card???
It glows in the dark. Don't belive me?

Look what happens when the lights go out!!
 Cool huh?

Ingredients:
Haunted House image - Kenny K
Photoshop (for coloring)
Patterned paper - Design Originals
Glow-in-the-dark paint - Tulip
Spider web border punch - Martha Stewart

What's Black and Orange + One Other Color All Over?

...a pumpkin dressed in a tuxedo with a purple bow tie?

...charcoal-broiled Cheetos and a banana?

...cheddar cheese dipped in old motor oil and covered with flamingo feathers?

Maaaaaybe.

But for today, it's our projects for the latest Kenny K's Krafty Krew challenge!

First off, I want to explain to y'all about my choice of colors for my project...because I inadvertently misunderstood the challenge. I thought it was simply "Black, Orange + One Other Color". I noticed many of the DT members had gone with Black, Orange and some iteration of Green. I didn't want to do that. You know me...I'm a maverick. I don't usually do what other people do...and I often don't adhere to rules (she says sheepishly with a hint of impishness and a whisper of sarcasm).

So I decided my "+1 other color" was going to be blue. CERULEAN BLUE to be exact. It goes well with orange and black, dontcha think? I sure do! It's the whole complementary color thing.

Well, I really blew it this week. The challenge was SUPPOSED to be "Black, Orange + One Other Spooky Halloween Color".

Oops, my bad. At least I didn't pink carnation pink.

So...how can I convince y'all that CERULEAN BLUE is spooky? Hmmm...I'm gonna try.
  • it is a little known fact that if you wear CERULEAN BLUE a zombie can home in on your location instantly.
  • CERULEAN BLUE  is the color of a bright, sunny summer sky--which is TERRIFYING to vampires.
  • CERULEAN BLUE  is the color of one of Frankenstein's monster's eyes (the other is brown).
  • CERULEAN BLUE  is the color of a lovely, deep, cool lake which would INSTANTLY melt a wicked witch of ANY directional persuasion into a pool of primordial goo.
  • CERULEAN BLUE  was the color of Lizzie Borden's dress when she whacked her parents with an axe (that's what happens when a psycho chick asks for a green dress from her parents and they give her a blue one instead).
  • CERULEAN BLUE  is the color of the feather that is needed to complete the most powerful and evil witches' potion ever brewed.
You buying ANY of this?

Thought not.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

So...here is the 4-1-1 on this week's REAL challenge at Kenny K's Krafty Krew:

This weeks first sponsor is Kenny K's Downloads

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digis.

And our second sponsor is

Leo at Flonz
The prize from Flonz this week is $20.00 gift voucher for Leo's store.
WOWZERS!!!!

Our theme this week is:
Black & Orange + One other Halloween color!

Spooky color combos all round please**
**unless your name is Torrey, then it doesn't apply.

 ****************************

So, here is my NON-TRADITIONAL-Halloween-color combo card. Hey, it may start a new Halloween trend--you just gotta use your imagination. It may not be all Halloweeny, but face it...finding a talking, animated fish would be REALLY spooky! Two weeks from now, we're hosting a "Spooky Card" challenge at KKKK...I promise I'll comply. So, check back then.

But, for this project I used one of Kenny's older images (Goldfish Kid--so cute!) and colored him (er, them) up with my trusty Prismacolor pencils. The rest is just layered papers and ribbon. Simple card, but strikingly bold and versatile! I can use this for just about anything. Okay, maybe not for a "New Baby" card...wait. it still might work.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Ingredients:
Nestability Die - Spellbinders (Crown Ovals)
Patterned Paper - Little Yellow Bicycle, MME
Ribbon - Offray
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
cardstock

Fruitastic

Hidy Ho! It's Sunday, Sunday, SUNDAY, so that means it's time for another challenge over at
This week our theme is
"Hey Fruity"
Don't ask me...I just work here. But, for today's challenge, make whatever suits your fruity fancy as long as it's got fruit on it somewhere, or has fruity colors. Come play along for your chance to win some super prizes!!

Our first sponsor this week is our own

The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digis.

And our second sponsor is

who doesn't LoVe ribbons? Iknowright?

I got a little silly with my project. Looking at it now, I'm wondering if I'm gonna ruffle some feathers out there. This was not my intent. I just wanted it to be a HAPPY, SILLY card. So, PLEASE...don't leave comments about how I'm making fun of people with disabilities or stereotyping people of color with regard to having an affinity for large ovoid fruits. Thank you! (hee hee hee).

That said, I used this really cute "Tug Of War" digi stamp from Kenny K. It has SO MANY possibilities as to what could be at the other end of that rope. For today's card, it is a giant, genetically-enhanced watermelon--somehow a cantaloupe just would NOT have worked (besides, I don't know how to draw a cantaloupe). I figure when these boys are finished with it...they can use it as a canoe! And FYI...I did a little magic in Photoshop and added the additional ropes around that ginormous melon...because one tiny rope at the bottom didn't seem...adequate for the job.

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Paper Crafting Journey: My Sentiment Exactly
Creative Craft Challenges2: Anything Goes
Divas By Design: #53 Lovely Layers
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards: Sweet Treats

Ingredients:
digi stamp - Kenny K (Tug Of War)
Nestability die - Spellbinders (Deckle Oval)
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
mini brads - Creative Impressions
patterned paper - Heidi Grace and some old stuff in my stash
mini rick rack
deckle scissors - Fiskars
marker - Zig

Falling into Autumn

I love the crisp, cool tinge in the air during autumn...the whisper of winter's breath to come. I adore the crunch, crunch, crunch of fallen leaves under foot as the trees shake loose their leafy mantles. I drink in the dry, musty smell of those same fallen leaves. The warm, rich colors of the foliage are comfort food to my soul...

(Insert sound of a record-player needle dragging across a vinyl record)

Stop the music!

What am I talking about? This is Texas. Fall won't be here for at least another 2-3 months. *sigh*. Here it's still sizzling. Lawns (if they've been watered) are still green. Trees are still in full-leaf. The crepe myrtles are in full-bloom.

It's nowhere NEAR autumn here.

Ugh.

But, over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew, we're celebrating the warmth and richness of Autumn with this week's challenge of:
Autumn Hues
...where the colors of Fall and leaves are the order of this week...regardless of it being perpetual summer here in my corner of the world. 'Cuz, it's all about me, dontcha know.

This weeks first sponsor is Kenny K's Downloads
The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digis.

And our second sponsor is Marianne Design

For this project, I decided on a warm palette of green and brown and chose one of Kenny's saucy Steampunk sirens...Capt. Locke, as the subject. I must say, Kenny's Steampunk Burlesque line is my all-time favorite. The detail in these girls is PHENOMENAL. I colored up the fabulous Cap'n on Kraft cardstock with my Prismacolor pencils.  I added a few glittery elements (her buttons, keys and buckles) to make the image pop. I then fussy-cut her out and mounted her with foam tape on vellum to create a sort of "dimensional aura" around her. I made the background using some left-over Kraft cardstock which I ran through my Wizard using an embossing folder. I inked the raised surfaces of the embossed background and fussy-cut and popped off various elements of it to add even more dimension. I finished it off with a really old (but favorite) die cut from Spellbinders (it's one of their very first dies) and a banner stamp from Bombshell.

Here is a detail shot of my coloring

I'd like to enter this card in the following challenges:
Ingredients:
Capt. Locke image - Kenny K
Banner stamp - Bombshell Stamps
Heart lock die - Spellbinders
Cuttlebug Clockworks embossing folder - Provo Craft
star brads - Creative Impressions
rhinestones - Michaels
glitter pen - Sakura
Prismacolor Colored Pencils
Distress ink - Ranger

Patterned paper

Corrosive Crafting

Summer is waning, school is in full swing...the thermometer is (thankfully) staying below 100 degrees...my birthday is fast approaching...this means it must be September! I was asked to be a guest designer for Corrosive Challenges for the month of September!! Such an honor!

Doesn't its very name make you think of rusted metal and loads of distressing? It's either that, or sulfuric acid...and I don't recommend crafting with sulfuric acid...you tend to lose fingers that way.

So, over at Corrosive Challenges the challenge this time around is "Myth and Magic". The sponsor for this challenge is: Delicious Doodles. Be sure to check them out. Their images are very unique and sophisticated--with a good dose of the macabre!

So come enter for your chance to win!!!

For this project, I chose one of Kenny K's new images from their "Myths & Maidenz" line--the lovely Elf Queen. She's so elegant and lithe. She TOTALLY reminds me of what a Tolkeinesque elf queen should look like. I colored her up with my Copics (just kidding...I just wanted to check to see if you were paying attention). I actually used my ever-trusty Prismacolor pencils (like I always do). I added touches of glitter to her dress, hairband and eyelids--though it's difficult to tell in this pic. I rubbed Perfect Pearls over the embossed background to highlight the rivets.

Ingredients:
Elf Queen image - Kenny K
Nestability dies - Spellbinders (Deckle oval, Labels Ten)
Prismacolor Pencils
Glitter pen - Sakura
gems - Michaels
Patterned Paper - HOTP (remember them?)
ribbon - Offray
Embossing Folder - Sizzix for Tim Holtz (riveted metal)
Perfect Pearls - Ranger
Paper crimper - Fiskars

Fathoms Below

It's challenge time over at  Kenny K's Krafty Krew

This week we charge, headlong, into the surf with a "Sun, Sea & Sand" challenge. We have 2 sponsors this week...

first: Our very own Kenny K! With winner's choice of 5 digis.

Our second sponsor is Marianne Designs with a fabulous prize!

So, come on and enter for your chance to win!!! It's time to cast off your....cares...and head to the beach! (I bet you thought I was gonna say "clothes" didn't you?)

Cheeky monkeys.

I've been singing songs from "A Little Mermaid" all week. I mean, I've been singing 'em all! Out loud. It's just scary that I know these by heart. So, it's no wonder that when it came time for me to do my project for our sunny/sandy/sea-y challenge that I had to incorporate the lyrics from at least ONE of the songs.

I chose the first verse of "Fathoms Below". If I close my eyes, I can see the ship crashing through the waves then the scene fades down, down, down to the depths of the ocean floor far below. Be happy I chose this song. I could have just as easily chosen a line from "Under The Sea"..."Everything's better, down where it's wetter, take it from me."  Um, yeah...

I thought that would be a little too...er...suggestive if ya know-what-i-mean.

Cheeky monkeys.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Ingredients:
Atlantea image - Kenny K
Prismacolor Colored pencils
patterned paper (dunno who it's by, sorry)
Versamark ink
gold embossing powder - Ranger
floral background stamp - Stampendous
handmade copper paper
copper brads - Creative Impressions
brown stamping ink- Colorbox
black tulle
transparency

Goin' Out With a BANG!

Today marks my last challenge as a guest designer for Craft Your Passion (CYP). It's been a FaBuLoUs month, chock-full of creativity over at CYP I really enjoyed working with Jenn and the uber-talented members of the DT. So it is with a misty eye that I bid adieu to my time at CYP.

This week's challenge is a sketch challenge with an "Anything Goes" subject theme. Here is the sketch for the challenge:
It was a really nice sketch to work with. Those of you who know me, know that I'm not a big "sketch" person. I tend to cringe at the mention of the word. I guess it has to do with being put into a box--which is SO not how I create. But, I persevered and bit the bullet and this is what I came up with. I didn't even rotate the sketch---I just followed it as-is. Heck, I even sorta stuck to the color scheme. Well sort of. Amazing.

I chose a fabulously sexy stamp from Kenny K which I colored up with my ever-trusty Prismacolor Pencils. Then, I fussy-cut her out and paper-toled her into 4 layers. I found a very fun paper/embellishment pack from Little Yellow Bicycle that totally ROCKED this card. Unfortunately, they've discontinued this line (called Generation Z)...but I love the orange and blue color scheme coupled with grey and black...it all comes together to create a very edgy look.

Here's a detail-shot of my coloring--the camera just didn't pick up all the depth of her hair. It totally washed it out. *sigh*

So...see that little metal embellishment in the upper right corner of the card (in the top picture)? The sort of spiral-looking thing...do you even know what that is? Yes, it's something that actually served a purpose, not just a funky embelly. If you're old enough, you'll know EXACTLY what it is. If not, I'll post the answer at the very bottom of my post under my signature.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Ingredients:
Vikki Lee Vicious stamp - Kenny K
"Generation Z" line of paper/embellishments - Little Yellow Bicycle
Prismacolor colored pencils
cardstock

The spiral thing is what we used to put in the center hole of 45 rpm records so that we could play them on our 33 rpm record players.

Hoist the Flag

Ahoy there, me crafty hearties!

'Tis time to join the crafty Team B over at Kenny K's Krafty Krew for another riveting challenge! Kenny has come out with some brandy new additions to his Retro line of stamps, and we're here to show 'em off!!

This week our theme is
We have 2 sponsors this week. First off is
The prize from Kenny is the winner's choice of 5 digi's.

Our second sponsor is:

I just love these new images from Kenny. They are a HUGE departure from his "norm". They totally remind me of the "Lichtenstein" genre of pop art. I really wanted to stay true to Lichtenstein's style when it came to coloring up this image. His style is so graphic. To learn more about Mr. Pop Art himself...Roy Lichtenstein...go HERE. So, I decided to color my image in Photoshop to get a totally smooth coloration. My Prismacolor pencils got a vacation. I bet they went to the beach.

I also wanted to present a "different" take on the whole Banners, Pennants & Bunting theme. You know me...a typical banner just wouldn't do. I was daydreaming about summer camp and how, invariably at some point, some poor kid's underwear gets run up the flagpole--creating a banner, of sorts, proudly waving for all the world to see. What can I say? I tend to create WAY outside that box thing.

This is, after all, Left Field.

That could explain why I am usually so irreverent and off-the-wall--or maybe not. Perhaps I'm nothing more than an enigma.

Ingredients:
Big Surprise image - Kenny K
"Country Life" Cricut cartridge - Provo Craft (altered up a bit by hand)
Punchinella
