Hi, I'm Torrey. Welcome to Left Field, where creativity runs amok and imagination is ALWAYS more important than knowledge. Shoes are not allowed but ties are optional. This is a repository of snippets from my life out here in Left Field. One never knows what shiny bits of creativity will be found here... cards, scrapbook layouts, photography, poetry, recipes, ponderings, rantings and musings. It could be anything! Life in Left Field is always changing, always real, always ...interesting.

February 24, 2012

It's dusty in here.

Time to clear away the cobwebs out here in left field. I've noticed the dust bunnies are having a party over there in the corner, complete with decorations, snacks...and are they doing the Limbo?? Those cwazy wabbits.

'Tis time for another challenge over at CCCC! This week's challenge is sponsored by the FaBuLoUs folks at A Day for Daisies. Ooooh I love their images. They're so fresh and stylishly simple.

The theme for this week's challenge is Drink Up--
(must have a beverage in the project).

I tell ya, it was a toss-up when it came time for me to choose a beverage for this project. I love cocoa and I love tea...so instead of choosing just one, I chose both. Why not?

The first card is my tea card. I went searching the web for quotes on tea and was very underwhelmed at the selection. So, I decided I would just write my own poem. I do that, ya know--write poems. So here is the card I made, followed by the poem I wrote. I must say, I am rather disappointed on how it printed out on the vellum. I can never figure out which side is the "right side" and invariably, the ink bleeds. Oh well.

Tea
by Torrey Moseley

Come, dear friend,
take tea with me…
We’ll float among the stars

and travel ‘round
the universe
past Jupiter and Mars

Come, dear friend,
the kettle calls
and beckons us to Tea.

There’s Chai for you
with scones and cream,
and Earl Grey, hot, for me.

Come, dear friend,
and rest awhile,
when weary, the world makes you…

Just one small sip
is all it takes…
to gently see you through

Ingredients:
Frameability die - Spellbinders - Scalloped Edge Frame
Prismacolor colored pencils
Rhinestones - Studio 18
Scalloped edge punch - EK Success for Martha Stewart
micro glitter - Hero Arts
glitter pen - Sakura

patterned paper

And here's card #2 featuring my friends cocoa and cookies. The image is completely paper toled into like 3 layers. It's hard to see due to the harsh lighting I had to work with. Suffice it to say, it's a very lumpy card.

  2. Those cards are both fabulous!

I love how you colored those adorable fairies and also love the design of both of them.

The poem is pretty great too.

I love Stash's Chai tea. It's good hot. It's good cold. It's good with brandy. Or so I'm told.
